Welcome to the UP Intelligent Systems Center. The Center aims develop and offer solutions to these complex societal problems by bringing together expertise from different UP constituent units and beyond. Intelligent systemswhich use elements of many modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, and which can adopt and adapt frameworks, strategies, and mechanisms used by complex living systems—are emerging in response to the convergence of the virtual and physical worlds. Such systems are critical in the development of autonomous systems, robotic equipment, smart devices, augmented reality, intelligent manufacturing, and many other relevant technologies that are helpful in solving complex problems that our society faces today and will challenge us in the near future.

Apply for research funding

The call for research funding applications for FY 2024-2025 is now open! UP ISC research grants aim to encourage collaborative, high impact research on complexity science, data science, and artificial intelligence across UP units. We are looking to award up to 5M pesos annually, per project, for projects that focus on the application of complexity science, data science, or artificial intelligence in areas related to sustainable socioeconomic development, including education, transportation; climate change; employment and services; disaster risk reduction and management; health and medical sciences; supply chain and logistics; and creative sector, cultural industries, and digital humanities. Multiple projects can be awarded per CU.

To learn more, check out the call for applications or attend the Virtual Convention, during which we can answer questions applicants may have about the grant.

UP Convention on Intelligent Systems

Learn more about UP Intelligent Systems Center and its activities by joining the Virtual System-wide Convention on February 12, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The event will be held online via Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom details and attend the event.

The convention also features an information session about the research funding scheme; the UP ISC Research Division staff will be able to answer any questions you have about the grant during the event.
